How it works

  1. Open Ludix and choose Hourglass, or Turn timer, on the home screen.
  2. Set the time: a quick choice or a custom duration.
  3. Tap the hourglass to flip it; with the turn timer, tap the large area at the end of your turn to pass to the next player.

What you can do

  • Animated hourglass for 30 seconds, 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 minutes, or a custom time from 10 seconds to 24 hours.
  • Flip it halfway and it runs on the sand that already fell, just like a real one; pause and reset with one tap.
  • Turn timer for 2 to 8 players, named or numbered: the same time for every turn, or a time bank per player that only runs during their turns, like a chess clock.
  • When time runs out, your choice: the player carries on with the overtime shown in red, or they are out and the last one standing wins.
  • Random turn order if you want it, and pause at any time.
  • A short sound on each of the last five seconds, then an alert when time is up; the screen stays on during the countdown.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between “Per turn” and “Total time”?

“Per turn” gives the same time to every turn, from 15 seconds to 2 minutes or a custom duration. “Total time” gives each player a time bank, from 1 to 10 minutes or more, that only runs during their own turns.

How many players does the turn timer handle?

From 2 to 8. You can type in their names or leave them numbered; put the phone in the middle of the table and each player taps the screen when done.

Does the time stay accurate if I switch apps?

Yes: time is worked out from the device clock, not from the animation. When you come back, the hourglass and the clocks show the exact time. During the countdown, the screen stays on.

Do I need to install an app?

No, everything runs in the browser, on phones and computers, with no account. You can also add Ludix to your home screen, and once opened, the tool keeps working offline.
