Magic ball online

Think hard about your question, then tap the ball or shake your phone: it trembles and reveals its answer. Yes, no or maybe, each with a one in three chance.

How it works

  1. Open Ludix and choose Magic ball in the Chance tab of the home screen.
  2. Type your question if you like, or just keep it in mind.
  3. Tap the ball or shake your phone: the answer shows up after a moment.

What you can do

  • Sixty answers per language: twenty positive, twenty neutral and twenty negative, drawn with equal odds.
  • The same answer never comes up twice in a row.
  • Shake your phone (motion sensor) or tap the ball, which also works on a computer.
  • Three looks (black ball, crystal, triangle), quick or dramatic reveal, and the answer read aloud if you want.
  • Your own answers, one per line: when they are on, about one answer in four comes from them.
  • Previous answers stay on screen, and the latest one can be shared as an image.

Great for

  • Settling a small decision when nobody wants to choose.
  • Livening up a party: everyone asks the ball a question.
  • Making kids laugh with unexpected answers.

Frequently asked questions

Does the magic ball tell the truth?

It’s a game: the answer is random. The tone (yes, maybe or no) is picked first, each with a one in three chance, then one of the twenty answers in that tone.

Is this a magic eight ball?

It works the same way: you ask a yes or no question and the ball gives a random answer. Ludix is not affiliated with the brand of that toy.

Do I have to shake my phone?

No, tapping the ball or the button is enough. On iPhone, in Safari, access to the motion sensor is requested on the first tap.

Can I add my own answers?

Yes, in the settings: type your answers, one per line. While they are on, about one answer in four comes from your list.
