Four in a row online

Take turns dropping a disc into a column: it falls to the lowest free spot. The first to line up four discs, across, down or diagonally, wins the game.

How it works

  1. Open Ludix and choose Four in a row in the games on the home screen.
  2. In the settings, pick your opponent: two players, or the phone on easy, medium or hard.
  3. Tap a column to drop your disc: the four winning discs are highlighted and the score carries over.

What you can do

  • The classic grid of 7 columns and 6 rows; a full grid with no line of four is a draw.
  • Two players on the same phone, red against yellow.
  • Against the phone at three levels: easy, medium (it blocks your immediate wins) or hard (it looks six moves ahead).
  • Score over several games; who goes first switches every game.
  • In a multiplayer game, duels with everyone on their own phone: winner stays, or a knockout tournament.
  • Discs you can tell apart without color (a ring on red, a star on yellow); on a computer, keys 1 to 7 work too.

Great for

  • A quick head-to-head for two, no board to set up.
  • Practicing solo against the phone, from easy to hard.
  • A tournament with friends, the bracket on every screen.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same game as Connect Four?

It follows the same rules as the game sold under the Connect Four brand: seven columns, six rows, four discs to line up. Ludix is not affiliated with that brand.

Is the hard level unbeatable?

No: it looks six moves ahead (yours and its own), which makes it a tough opponent, but a longer-term plan can beat it.

How do two people play, each on their own phone?

Create a multiplayer game: players scan the QR code, then the host picks Four in a row. Two players face off while the others follow the grid on their phones and wait for their turn.

Do I need to install an app or create an account?

No, everything runs in the browser, on phones and computers, with no account. You can also add Ludix to your home screen.
